This is my first attempt at building a vertical axis wind turbine. I have no previous experience and have no idea how it will turn out. My goal is to save some money on my electric bill. I hope to entertain and inspire others so have fun and enjoy my journey with it’s mistakes, successes and failures. i hope i have few of the latter.

Nice, thanks for posting! I am trying out something similar (hydro). A question: Do I have to use a metallic disc for the magnets? Or can I use any material?
Wowza. I made the mistake of going bare handed when putting two completed rotors together… almost had to dial 911 with my toes (and almost past out). I recommend that you use gloves when handling these magnets – and then the completed rotors.
Also, there are some really simple and inexpensive N/S magnet testers out there – you are right about the up/down thing, but folks should know the test magnet you used is a really weak ceramic one.
No, its not a wind generator (fan) but they call it a wind-generator. Something that generates (electricity) by using the force of the wind.
where did you get your magnets from, looking for big magnets
You are welcome. I think these communities are important to share ideas. You can find many helpful people in here to do almost any project you want to do. Those magnets sound like they are pretty powerful 100 lbs pull or more anything around 100 or higher you need help to pry appart good luck. Glad to be some assistants.
